An ambitious but much delayed Signature Bridge Project of Delhi Government, was to be completed before the Commonwealth Games which was held in October in 2010, might be finally see early next year. Mr. Satyendar Jain minister of Public Works Department (PWD) told to the reporters that the project, which construction works is under process for more than a decade, have to be completed soon and will become operational by march 2017. While it should have been completed in July 2016 as per the same government’s officer had earlier said.The much delayed project of Signature Bridge is coming up at Wazirabad on River Yamuna, and will make a smooth connectivity for North East Delhi to the other part of the Capital. It will be unique in design with its steel towers with the double height of Qutab Minar. A lot of development programs like waterfront development for the tourist attractions are also in the pipeline. More than 60% of the work of the project which includes approach roads and loops are at an advanced stage and nearby to be completed, while the piling work for the bridge over the river Yamuna is a main reason for the delay of the project. Minister told to the reporters that Initially bridge was planned with a budget of Rs. 1,131 crore, after that cost has escalated to nearly Rs. 1,600 crore in 2015.
