The long-delayed Signature Bridge over Yamuna River near Wazirabad will be opened for public on November 4. After missing several deadlines, Finally It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on November 4 and it will be opened to the public the next day November 5th. The grand launch will be followed by a laser show. The bridge will reduce the travel time between Northeast Delhi, Trans Delhi Signature City and its surrounding areas.
The Signature Bridge will be the first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India and will offer panoramic view of the city in coming February from 154-metre-high glass box like the Eiffel Tower, Paris. The government will also develop the area as a tourist spot in the next two-three months.
Announced in 2004, with initially estimated cost around ₹494 crore. It was initially expected to be completed before Commonwealth Games, held in Delhi in October 2010, with modified cost of Rs 1,131 crore in 2007. Finally, in 2015 the cost rose to Rs 1,594 crore. There were several issues that caused delays. But, finally after the Fourteen years in the making, it has been completed and will be thrown open for the public on Monday November 5.
