The public works department Delhi is going to partly close the Wazirabad Yamuna Bridge for maintenance

The public works department (PWD) Delhi is going to partly close the Wazirabad Yamuna Bridge for repair work for three months, starting from Sunday March 25, this repair work on the bridge that would be complete into three phases each phase lasting three months. Senior engineers of PWD who are overseeing the project, said that only one side of the two-lane bridge would be closed at the time of the repairing work, carpeting of the road cannot be done without restricting traffic. They also said the they will try to finish the work before the deadline. While The Delhi government\’s Signature Bridge the gateway of Tronica City is delayed by eight years and its construction work is now expected to be completed by May this year.

During this repairing period, the traffic will be heavy on Wazirabad Road, Khajuri Pusta Road and nearby Outer Ring Road. The Delhi traffic police issuing a traffic advisory on Tuesday to minimise public inconvenience. This repair work would cause major traffic diversions so that commuters should have plan their journey in advance to avoid any kind of inconveniences.

In The first phase, cantilever portion, pavements and cycle track from Khajuri Chowk to Wazirabad of repair work will be done for which one carriageway of the bridge will be closed. The light motor vehicles going from Trans Delhi Signature City towards Wazirabad can use the newly constructed Pontoon Bridge and vehicles coming from Wazirabad towards Khajuri can use the available single carriageway of Wazirabad Yamuna Bridge. The entry of Heavy and Medium Vehicles like trucks and buses will be restricted on the Wazirabad Yamuna Bridge till completion of repair work. The traffic from Ghaziabad side may follow alternate routes, while those heavy vehicles which are destined for Delhi may take Mohan Nagar-Link Road (Vaishali) – NH-24 to enter Delhi as Shahdara flyover is also under repair. The heavy vehicles destined for Haryana may use Bahalgarh-Baghpat route.
