The 135 km long Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) expressway or Eastern Peripheral Expressway(EPE), will inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 27,

The Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) expressway also known as Eastern Peripheral Expressway(EPE), will inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 27, 2018 at the District Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, and also hold a public meeting there. The 135 km expressway had been completed in a record time of two years at the cost of Rs. 5763 crores. It will be provide signal-free connectivity between Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Palwal. The arrival of the Prime Minister helipads has been set up on KGP Expressway.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Digital Art Gallery of National Highway Authoritys of India (NHAI) at the toll plaza in Jakhauli village in district Sonipat. This Digital art gallery have 18 displays to present the glorious construction story of the KGB expressway from the beginning to completion of the construction work. The gallery would also have a group picture of a complete team involved in the construction of the expressway with the Prime Minister.

This expressway is the country\’s first Axis Control Highway with a unique system under which you have to pay the toll tax only for the distance travelled, not for the entire length of expressway. At entry points machines are installed for measuring the weight of vehicles in motion and a separate exit for overloaded vehicles. A part of the project is provision of a passage to vehicles not headed towards the national Capital Delhi and comprises the Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) and EPE connecting NH-1 and NH-2 to form a circle around Delhi. The former will connect Kundli with Palwal via Manesar and is expected to be completed next month. It is expected that it will decongest the city traffic and reduce heavy traffic air pollution in the capital.

A replica of 36 monuments like India Gate, Gateway of India, Ashoka Stambha, showcasing the art and culture of the country has been established. It is india first ecofriendly expressway with the arrangement of rainwater harvesting on both sides of the expressway at every 500 metres with Solar lights.
